Agartala is a wonderful city, with abundant plants and animals. Avid tea and rice cultivations are done here owing to the fertility of this region. The best time to visit Agartala is from September to March.
The Ujjayanta Palace is a landmark in Agartala. It has Indo-Saracen architecture and was built by Maharaja Radhakishore Manikya. It was built in 1901 and it has huge gardens. The Ujjayanta Place is a 2-storey building. Today, the Palace is a State Legislative Assembly building.
The Kunjaban Palace is another important place in Agartala. Situated on a small hill, it lies barely a kilometre away from the Ujjayanta Palace. It was built by Maharaja Bijendra Kirshore Manikya and was originally known as Pushpawant Palace. Currently the Governor of Agartala resides in this Palace. The Southern part of the Palace called the Rabindra Kanan is open to the public. There is also a science museum located in the heart of the city- the Sukanta Academy, which boasts of a planetarium.
