Charlotte Lake is a nice place in Matheran. When you visit this place, you will feel the crisp and cool air teasing your face as you survey the landscape. The entire hill resort get’s its water supply from the Charlotte Lake during the rainy season. The ancient Pisarnatht Temple is to the right of the lake and the Louisa Point and Echo Point are to the left of the lake. All in all, the lake is a perfect picnic spot. Charlotte Lake offers panoramic views and is lush green.
You will find some domestic birds flying over the lake. This adds to the picturesque beauty of the lake. Matheran is lush green during the monsoons but dries up during the summer. During the rainy season, you will find many small waterfalls here. In spite of being so close to the metropolitan city of Mumbai, it is unpolluted and is a nice getaway.
Matheran is an eco-sensitive zone and thus vehicles are not allowed here. You will find hand pulled rickshaws and animal drawn rickshaws here. Matheran is famous for chikki and fudge. You should be careful of your food packets as there is a menace of monkeys. Matheran has many sight-seeing points and is a place of natural beauty.

Matheran is a lovely hill station situated in the Western Ghats. It is at a distance of 90 Kms from Mumbai and 120 Kms from Pune. The name Matheran means “forest on the head”.
Matheran offers a place called Alexander Point. It is the most popular and scenic point sin Matheran. This Point also offers great views of the Garbut Point, Rambaug Point, downhill village of Boorgaon and Chowk Point. Alexander Point is known for its cool environs and serene beauty. A good view of the Bhivpuri Power House is offered by this point. The view of the deep valley from this point is a delight for any tourist.
