Situated 123 kilometers above the sea level, the city of Lucknow is rich in culture and traditions. It is the capital of Uttar Pradesh. It is famous all over India for its various handicraft works. According to mythology, Lord Rama gifted the territory of Lucknow to his brother Lakshmana. Called as the ‘golden city of the east’, Lucknow is a fascinating city.

There are many worth visiting places in Lucknow. The Bara Imambara and the Bhoolbhulaiya(maze), the Chota Imambara, Husainabad Clock Tower, Lucknow Residency Museum, Indira Gandhi Planetarium and the Zoo attract lots of tourists.

The Bara Imambara is a huge tomb built in 1783. It is a beautiful remnant of the Mughal architecture. It has an impressive labyrinth too. An entry ticket above rupees 300 is charged to visit this tomb along with the Chota Imambara and the Husainanbad Clock Tower, so it must be carried carefully. The Husainabad Clock Tower is a British landmark where one can enjoy a beautiful sunset. The Chota Imambara is a mausoleum built by the third Nawab of Avadh in 1837.  The Residency Museum can be a respite from the crowd of the city and you can carry inside a camera after paying a nominal entry fee.

 Lucknow is famous for the ‘Tikkas and Kebabs’, types of Mughal delicacies. When in Lucknow, don’t forget to munch on them!
