The Meenakshi-Sundareswar temple is a celebrated temple in Madurai. It is one of the greatest Shiva temples in Tamil Nadu. A tale related to this temple says that Lord Shiva blessed the city and its people on the day the city was to be named.
This gorgeous temple is a cultural landmark in India and it was built by the Pandya king, Kulasekara. The Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal was built in Indo-Saracen style by Thirumalai Nayakar in 1636. It is a national monument and there is a Light and Sound show conducted in the premises of the palace, for the visitors.
