Patan is the administrative seat of Patan District and is administered by municipality.


The remains of the Old Fort of Patan can be found near Kalka at the outskirts of the new city. These remains are of immense archaeological importance. The remains of the New Fort can be found in the new part of the city. People hardly show any interest in preserving the heritage of the city.


The inner fort of Bhadra is in good shape. Step wells found in Patan are Rani-kji-Vav and Trikam Barot ni Vav. The lakes in Patan are Sahstraling Sarovar, Anannd Sarovan and Gungadi Sarovar.

 

There are many Hindu and Jain temple and mosques in Patan. These include Old Kalka Mandir, Panchmukhi Hanuman, Jasma Odan ni Deri, Old Mahalaxmi Mandir, Hingaraj Mandir, Panchasar Derasar and Sheikh Farid no Rojo.
