Vijaywada, the third largest city in the state, is located on the banks of the Krishna River. It is bounded by the Indrakiladri Hills on the west and is also the commercial capital of Andhra Pradesh. Vijaywada means ‘place of victory’.

The Prakasham Barrage is built across the Krishna River and has created a lake which offers a spectacular view. The lakes 3 channels run through the city and thus one feel as if he is in Venice.
